Your dog can be a real Flexi-terrier too! 🌱🐶

Are dogs carnivores, omnivores or opportunists?

Did you know that in the wild, dogs and wolves naturally get around 20% of their diet from poo? It might sound odd, but it shows just how varied their natural eating behaviour really is! Dogs are true omnivores and have evolved alongside us as domestic dogs – they’ve adapted to a diet that isn’t just meat, but also includes all sorts of plant sources.

In fact, dogs can live perfectly well on a fully plant-based diet, provided it’s carefully formulated and properly supplemented (think specific amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals). At the same time, we think it makes sense, and is practical, not to go to extremes or rely too heavily on soya and other pulses. A small amount of meat, fish or the odd egg can help make the menu complete and doable – without you having to feed ‘lots of meat’, and it certainly doesn’t have to be every day.

Annette & the vision behind Jus’Cani®

For more than 18 years, vet Annette van Weezel Errens, MVSc, has been championing a healthier, more natural way of feeding. What started with horses grew into an innovative feeding philosophy: Het Nieuwe Voeren (The New Way of Feeding) – nutrition that meets the animal’s real needs.

With Jus’Cani®, Annette is now bringing her knowledge and passion to dogs. Her belief is simple but powerful:

“Good fresh, minimally processed food is the foundation of healthy gut flora, and that’s where health and happiness begin.”
Every meal with Jus’Cani® is made with your care, our love and science – so your dog gets what they really need: pure, nourishing and honest
